Love is in the air for Matildas defender Ellie Carpenter, who has officially tied the knot with Dutch football star Daniëlle van de Donk in a breathtaking wedding ceremony in France.
The newlyweds shared their joy with fans on Instagram, posting two stunning photos from their big day. Carpenter, 25, captioned the images with a simple but heartfelt message: “I choose you. I will always choose you.”

The romantic French ceremony saw both brides looking radiant in elegant white gowns. Carpenter wore a strapless Pronovias dress with a dramatic mermaid-style skirt and a flowing white veil. Her hair was styled in a chic messy bun, adding a relaxed touch to her glamorous look.
Van de Donk, 33, chose a princess-style gown by Mia Atelier, complete with delicate lace detailing. She wore her hair in soft waves, perfectly complementing the timeless elegance of her dress.
The post was quickly flooded with love and well-wishes from friends, family, and plenty of Carpenter’s Matildas teammates.
“Holy smokes you two are absolutely stunning. Best day ever. Love you both so much,” wrote Emily Gielnik.

Carpenter and van de Donk first met in 2021 while playing for French club Olympique Lyonnais. Romance rumours began swirling in early 2022, but the couple kept their relationship private until later that year.
In January 2024, the couple delighted fans by announcing their engagement via a joint Instagram post, showing van de Donk beaming with a diamond ring on her finger. Carpenter is believed to have proposed during a holiday in the Maldives – a moment that was met with celebration by their teammates and supporters.
