There’s nothing like a cookie to put a smile on your face. And nothing like a bucket of Christmas Cookies to solve all your festive season gift shopping dilemmas.

Christmas Cookies are a gender neutral gift, a genuine crowd-pleaser, and a lot more delicious than that old Christmas standby – socks. Perfect for the hard to buy for, the person who has everything, the ones who prefer (eating) experiences not things, and the ones who’d love a thoughtful gift that helps fill the pantry. And Gluten Free options means everyone can enjoy.

This year, Cookie Time is releasing its biggest ever range of Christmas Cookies, with six 2L bucket flavours, including new Lemon Meringue, which matches the classic Kiwi taste of lemon meringue pie with the luxury of white chocolate. It is also launching a second 1L Gluten Free flavour – Berries & Cream – alongside the popular Gluten Free Chocolate Chip.

Christmas Cookies not only taste good, they do good too, with a donation from sales going to the Cookie Time Charitable Trust to fund projects to help New Zealand kids reach their potential. More than $2 million has been raised from sales to date, helping fund the ongoing work of Dyslexia Foundation of New Zealand, plus projects for St John and KidsCan.

Christmas Cookies were first launched in 1985, sold on the streets of Christchurch by university students. Since then, the nationwide campaign has nurtured generations of young entrepreneurs – students who run their own cookie-selling business and learning invaluable business skills along the way.

Flo Forrester, Christmas Cookies campaign manager, says the Christmas Cookies business experience is like no other, and reflects Cookie Time’s own origins.

“Cookie Time started with a huge handmade cookie, $5000 in the bank, an old Mini Clubman van and bucketloads of youthful enthusiasm. Entrepreneurial spirit has driven Cookie Time from the get-go, and we believe there is real value in hothousing young talent and sharing our learnings.”

A former seller herself, Forrester says it’s a unique opportunity for sellers to have the autonomy of running a business, whilst receiving advice and support from an iconic brand.

“Along the way, Christmas Cookies sellers really get to grips with the realities of business, from making sales through to managing the operational and administrative requirements of being your own boss.

“Whether our sellers go on to become entrepreneurs in their own right, or simply apply these qualities in other business roles, the experience shapes leadership skills and gives a great grounding in everything from sales and marketing through to distribution,

Proudly made in New Zealand, bite-size Christmas Cookies are made with real ingredients and batch-baked in traditional rack ovens. Instantly recognisable for their home style taste and appearance, they’ve long been a Kiwi festive tradition.

After the Christmas tree comes down, the tinsel is packed away and all that’s left of the cookies are crumbs, the vibrant buckets are often put to practical use – upcycled for everything from peg buckets and toy storage through to handy beach buckets and sandcastle moulds.

Cookie Time Christmas Cookies are on sale from October 31. Seller visits can be requested by calling 0800 XCOOKIE (0800 926654) or at https://www.christmascookies.co.nz/request-visit/
