What To Do When Moving In
Moving into a new home can be just as stressful as moving out of one, here are some tips to help you unpack

Related Stories
* Form two teams. One team will supervise or undertake loading up. The other team will unload everything and start to unpack.
* Unload the toolbox and the torch first. You will need to have these handy all day on the first day of the move and the following days as well.
* Quickly hang up all the clothes in the cupboard or wardrobes on the coat hangers that you have sensibly left them on.
* Slide lightly packed drawers, which can be transported as they are, straight back into place (having only removed fragile objects).
* Systematically check the condition of the furniture that was transported by the removalist. The period in which you can claim for any damage varies between 7 and 30 days, so check the company’s insurance arrangements to make sure you know the time limit for reporting any damage to your furniture or belongings.
* Check that the number of boxes unloaded corresponds to the number on your list, and that you haven’t left anything behind in your old home. If any boxes are missing, alert the moving company.
* Don’t try to unpack everything on the day you move. Take time to work out the best position for favourite decorations in their new setting, because this will help everyone to think of the new place as home.
