Tips For Buying a Used Car
Buying a used car can be a real nightmare, here are some tips on how to make it hassle-free
1. Check newspapers, motoring magazines or the Internet. Motoring organisations can tell you what to look for in the model you’ve chosen, and offer vehicle inspections and advice.
2. If you’re buying from an individual rather than a car dealership, make sure you know which documents are required for transferring the car’s registration. Is a safety inspection certificate required?
3. After transferral, car registration can be renewed online in all the states and territories of Australia, in New Zealand and in South Africa.
4. In Australia, be wary of buying a car registered in another state, as regulations may vary as to roadworthiness.
5. When buying a second-hand car, set up a time to test drive it with the vendor, and always phone ahead to make sure the car is still for sale.
