Joris's laundry conversion
Handyman reader Joris transformed a laundry into a bathroom, and a grotty existing bathroom into an en-suite.
My wife bought our first house without me seeing it as I was overseas at the time. When she emailed the pictures I realised we’d have a lot of hands-on work to do.
We’ve since done many renovating and makeover projects but the most enjoyable and dramatic ones have been the bathrooms.
There was one functional bathroom in the house but it had deteriorated so much that it looked like you’d need to wear thongs in there.
We used this bathroom while we turned the laundry into a new one, then we gutted the existing bathroom and transformed it into an ensuite. Both jobs involved a lot of DIY and cost us just under $8000.
