Robert's Frontyard Facelift
We were looking for ideas to upgrade our 1950s weatherboard cottage when we found the Walkway Pergola project in April 2008 Handyman
To get started we hired a bobcat and cleared out the frontyard then it took a long weekend to complete.
The first day involved setting out and digging the postholes and concreting the uprights, using 120 x 120mm cypress pine posts.
Day two consisted of accurate cutting and a few trips to the hardware store. Day three was dedicated to painting in a ruby red to match the deck handrails and guttering on the house.
Aligning the posts was the most difficult part so I called on my visiting father-in-law to help, and I made it right on the $900 budget as quoted in Handyman.
