How to fix a rusty garage door track
Garage door tracks often rest on damp concrete floors and are prone to rust. There’s no reason they can’t finish slightly above the floor to keep them dry. Joists carry the weight of the track, and angle brackets hold it in place.
1. Remove the base

Remove the base making sure all the angle bracket bolts are tight. Mark about 12mm up from the base of the track then cut the metal with a reciprocating saw or hacksaw.
2. Seal the track

Seal the track and clean the base of the track with mineral turpentine using a wire brush to remove rust. Position cardboard as a dropsheet and seal with paint formulated for rusted areas.
