Ingredients

1⁄2 c butter, softened
1 c sugar
1 egg
1 t vanilla extract
1 - 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1⁄2 c baking cocoa
1 t baking soda
1⁄4 t salt
1⁄2 c water
1⁄2 c buttermilk
chocolate frosting

Preparation

1. In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture alternately with water and buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
2. Fill paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 190° for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely. Frost cupcakes. .
