Sweet cherries make lovely jam alone, with redcurrant, or with other berries.

Ingredients for cherry and redcurrant jam
2 kg dark cherries (prepared weight)
1 kg redcurrants
300 ml water
3 kg sugar
Preparation method for cherry and redcurrant jam
1. Wash the cherries and remove the stones. Strip the currants from their stalks and rinse. Simmer both with the water for 30 minutes, or until soft.
2. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved, then boil rapidly to setting point.
