Blackberry & Apple Jam Recipe
Blackcurrant and apple make a great combination in this sweet jam
Ingredients for blackberry and apple jam
2 kg blackberries
300 ml water
750 g cooking apples (prepared weight)
3 kg sugar
Preparation method for blackberry and apple jam
1. Clean the blackberries and simmer in half the water until soft. Peel, core and chop the apples and simmer separately in
the remaining water. Mash both to a pulp.
2. Simmer the two fruits together, add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Boil rapidly until setting point is reached. Variation: For seedless jam, strain the blackberry pulp, then mix the juice and purée with the apple pulp. Use 25 per cent less sugar than for whole-fruit jam.
