Breakdowns are a major cause of wasted time and delays. In order to avoid this issue, attention to basic maintenance is essential, and it doesn’t have to cost much. Delays in maintaining your motorcycle properly may end up costing you more in the long run.

1. Check that your tyres are in good condition and are correctly inflated, and that the rims are not damaged. This will ensure satisfactory steering and minimise punctures.

2. Make sure you’re using the correct fuel mix and engine oil.

3. Check that the drive chain is clean and correctly adjusted.

4. Make sure the brake cables, drums, discs and pads are all in good working order.

5. Check the battery is in good condition and is fully charged.

6. Have the steering head bearings checked to make sure they are in good condition and are correctly adjusted.
