Repairing a Leaky Gutter
Does your house have a leaking gutter? Here's a step-by-step guide to show you how to fix it.

What you'll need
- Work gloves (optional)
- Clean rags and a solvent (such as
acetone) - Paintbrush or putty knife
- Fibreglass resin,
gutter sealant - Scissors or tin snips
- Wire brush or abrasive paper
Fibreglass or metal patch - Pop rivets and rivet gun (for metal patches)

STEP 1
Clean area with a wire brush or abrasive paper. Wipe area with solvent and allow to dry. Cut a patch to cover the area plus 50mm all around if using fibreglass, 50mm longer for a metal patch.

STEP 2
For a fibreglass patch, apply a thin coat of mixed resin to the gutter with a paintbrush, as shown. Be careful not totouch the resin. For a metal patch, spread a 3mm layer of sealant with a putty knife.

STEP 3
Press patch into adhesive with a rag. Fibreglass – apply a thin coat of resin over patch, wait 24 hours, sand, and apply another coat. Metal – rivet patch both ends; spread sealant over edges and let dry.
