| Handyman Editor on 03 October 2012 ,19:04 Hi Susie, this is a complicated one... If the bridge is built as an arch, it will only be level at one point along its longitudinal axis, although it should be level throughout along the lateral axis. The most important thing to do before commencing work is to check with council to confirm that the proposed design meets NZ building standards. Without knowing your precise location, it’s not possible to offer a suggestion as to 'the best place for glass'. My recommendation would be to look online or in a business phone directory to find a local supplier of glass balustrades and fencing, then negotiate the cutting for this kind of custom job. A word of caution, though: the panels will probably need to be cut into wedges or other non-standard shapes, which may prove to be very expensive. Hope this helps. – HM Editor |
| susie eckhoff on 21 September 2012 ,11:25 I have an exciting bridge made of pine logs. I want to replace it with decking and safety glass on the sides. Does the bridge have to be level? It is on an arch. And where is the best place for glass? |
