This 1600mm long console, designed for music aficionados, has a benchtop that sits 850mm from the floor, the best height for using the two turntables and mixer in the middle.
The second shelf houses two deep drawers for equipment, with an open-back centre for access to wires to the amplifier. The third shelf is for CDs and the base shelf for vinyl, with the unit sides extending up past the top as sides and to use as handles.
STEP 1
Assemble the frame
On the sides measure 10mm up to mark the screws for the base shelf, 71mm from each edge then three in between, drilling 3mm pilot holes and countersink. Secure the sides to the base with PVA adhesive and 40mm x 8g screws.
STEP 2
Attach the shelves
Use the dividers to position and support the second and third shelf, marking the centre of the shelves on the sides and measuring up from the base shelf screws to drill matching 2mm pilot holes, countersinking the screws for each shelf.
STEP 3
Add the dividers
Measure from the sides of the base shelf to mark the centre of the dividers, reversing the clamp heads on a quick-grip clamp to hold the shelves secure. Apply PVA adhesive to the dividers and position before releasing the clamps.

Clamp the bench to dry
Lightly tap the dividers into position with a hammer, using a straightedge to check the vertical alignment then apply pressure across the shelves with long clamps at the front and back, using a damp sponge to remove excess adhesive.
STEP 5
Assemble the drawers
Butt-join the box sides to the fronts and backs, securing with PVA adhesive and 25mm x 8g screws then secure the bases. Position runners along the sides, secure with screws then secure the shelf runners 20mm from the front edge of the dividers.
